Cotecna North Asia VP Speaks at Themed Forum During World AI Conference 2026
Cotecna is pleased to have participated in the recently concluded 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), one of the world’s most influential AI gatherings held annually in Shanghai, China to showcase cutting-edge innovation and foster cross-sector collaborations.
At the invitation of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, LI Wenjiang, Vice President for Cotecna North Asia, delivered a speech at the “Forum on Artificial Intelligence and Innovative Development for Green & Low-Carbon Industrial Transformation”, part of this landmark event.
Themed “Intelligent Energy & Carbon Management, Green Innovation for a New Era: Enabling Mutual Empowerment Between AI and Industrial Decarbonization”, the forum aligns with China’s national “Dual Carbon” strategy and the policy initiative to “empower thousands of industries with AI”. The forum marked the official launch of Shanghai’s new “AI + Energy & Carbon Digital Intelligence Space”, a pioneering initiative targeting the industry and communication sectors, alongside the debut of the “Green Manufacturing Agent”, a comprehensive digital solution demonstrating how AI can accelerate practical, scalable green transformation across industries.
With international green trade measures such as the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) now fully in force, carbon emissions data has evolved from an environmental metric into a pricing benchmark and a critical factor in global market access. Yet many companies still struggle with “compliance complexity, high certification costs, and fragmented data”, making it difficult to meet international standards for traceable, verifiable carbon reporting.
In response, Wenjiang in his speech titled “AI + Energy & Carbon: Deploying Intelligent Agents to Operationalize Green Manufacturing Evaluation and Build a CBAM Compliance Ecosystem” proposed an AI-driven solution: by leveraging Shanghai’s “AI + Energy & Carbon Digital Intelligence Space” and specialized AI agents, carbon accounting can be transformed from traditional manual reporting into an auditable computational system, ensuring end-to-end data integrity through trusted data sources, complete audit trails, and independently verifiable outcomes.
Notably, the newly established “Special Committee on Green Manufacturing and Energy-Carbon Digital Integration” under the Shanghai Energy Conservation & Environmental Protection Service Association was recently inaugurated. As a Vice Chair of the committee, Cotecna will work closely with government bodies, industry partners, and other stakeholders to build a localized green compliance support ecosystem based on the AI + Energy & Carbon Digital Intelligence Space, helping Chinese enterprises effectively navigate the low-carbon requirements and expectations of global supply chains.
