Certificate of Conformity for Exports to Kenya
Cotecna has been awarded the contract by the Kenyan Bureau of Standards (KEBS) to issue Certificates of Conformity (COC) for exports of regulated products from China to Kenya.
The Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVOC) Programme is a mandatory conformity assessment scheme applied in the country of export. It ensures that regulated products destined for Kenya comply with:
- Applicable Kenyan Technical Regulations
- Mandatory Kenyan Standards or approved specifications
Under this programme, imported regulated products must be accompanied by a Certificate of Conformity (COC). Any shipment that arrives in Kenya from China without a valid COC will be prohibited from entering the country.
Regulated Products:
All products exported to Kenya fall under the Kenya PVOC program, except those listed as prohibited, restricted, or exempted.

Kenya PVOC Certification Process
As a trusted partner of the Kenyan government, Cotecna’s mandate consists of conducting conformity assessment activities in the country of origin for products being imported into the Republic of Kenya.
These activities may include one or a combination of the following:
- Physical inspection of goods
- Sampling and testing at laboratories accredited to ISO/IEC 17025
- Factory audits
- Sealing of full-container loads, where required
Once conformity is demonstrated, Cotecna proceeds with the issuance of a Certificate of Conformity (COC), which is a mandatory document for Customs clearance in Kenya.
