Cotecna COO Romain PETIT’s Visit to China
Cotecna COO Romain PETIT visited China from 11 October to 18 October 2024.
Accompanied by Wenjiang LI, VP North Asia, Romain participated in a series of activities, gaining a deeper understanding of the China market and Cotecna’s operations in China. This visit also served to enhance the ties with key stakeholders.
On 14 October, Romain and the North Asia management team visited the Putuo District Government of Shanghai. ZHOU Ruyi, Vice Mayor of Putuo, along with government officials from relevant departments, welcomed the Cotecna delegation and hosted the meeting.
Romain presented the latest developments of Cotecna and our China operations, appreciated the long-term strong support and guidance by the government, and articulated Cotecna’s confidence in the China market. Vice Mayor ZHOU congratulated Cotecna on new achievements globally and in China, encouraged further investment to meet the local market’s growing demands for TIC services. He welcomed Cotecna “home” with the government commitment to continued support and wished Cotecna greater success.
On 15 October, Romain met with NI Junnan, Director-General of Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).
At the meeting, Romain updated Mr. NI on Cotecna’s recent advancements and activities especially in China, extended gratitude to SAMR for robust guidance whenever needed, and conveyed Cotecna’s intensions in expansion of services and market presence. In response, Mr. NI highly recognised the significant contribution of foreign investment to the economic development of Shanghai as a port city, noting that with positive performance and trends in key indicators including GDP, import & export volume, total trade volume, the market remains full of vitality and potential. He welcomed Cotecna to enhance investment in China with re-affirmed assurance of government services.
On 15 October, Romain attended Cotecna Night – 50th Anniversary Celebration & Reception, appreciating all parties for support, trust, and partnerships over the years. As we celebrate the milestone of 50 years, Cotecna reiterated the commitment to growing and thriving together with our clients.
During this China trip, Romain visited Cotecna’s offices and laboratories across China, where he heard report-out from local management teams on business development, operations, and future growth plans. He shared his detailed feedbacks and strategic guidance with each team accordingly.
Furthermore, Romain was interviewed by a prominent China media outlet, on Cotecna’s exhibiting at the China International Import Expo (CIIE), China business environment, market opportunities and potentials, and our next steps.
This visit to China has renewed our confidence in the China market potentials and underscored the importance of continued focus on this region for further expansion and growth. As we move forward, the key takeaways and learnings from this visit can be leveraged to enhance our operations in China, positioning us to capitalise on the opportunities that lie ahead and build on our past achievements for sustained success.
