Cotecna Renews Its Mandate Under the SONCAP Programme
We are delighted to share that our mandate to operate under the Standards Organisation of Nigeria Conformity Assessment Programme (SONCAP) has been officially renewed for an additional four years starting on May 1, 2026. This renewal strengthens our long‑standing partnership with the Standards Organisation of Nigeria.
Since our initial appointment, we have remained committed to ensuring that regulated goods destined for Nigeria meet required safety and quality standards. This renewed mandate allows us to continue supporting exporters and importers with fast, reliable, and technically robust SONCAP certification services, backed by our global network, digital tools, and dedicated technical experts.
As part of the mandate renewal, several programme level updates have been introduced under the SONCAP scheme. These include:
- amendment to Route B inspection frequency, now defined as four inspections per annum (previously 40%), with the first shipment inspection mandatory.
- as well as enhanced flexibility within Product Certificate Requirements (PCR), allowing the use of manufacturer QMS combined with in‑house test reports, provided this is properly documented.
As part of the mandate renewal, adjustments have also been made to the SONCAP fee structure. The updated fees are outlined in the table below for reference
